Floorball (iceless hockey, click the picture) is a game that was never quite popular - or we didn't know it at all - but it is so natural and entertaining. Let me admit that despite the years in the U.S., I have never understood what's interesting about baseball and why anyone would ever care about this game.
Sorry, my American friends.
Also, I still don't know what's the primary reason why soccer is not one of the top games in the U.S. Is it a pure coincidence or is there something special about Americans that explains this fact? I don't know the answer. Do you?
Only five countries or so have become good in floorball at the top level - Sweden, Norway, Finland, Switzerland, and Czechia (where it is called simply "florbal", in analogy with "fotbal"). No doubt, the success is heavily correlated with the popularity of the game as a source of entertainment and a method to exercise. So I encourage the readers in the remaining 200 countries that visit this blog to learn what this game is all about and try it.
Why do I think that it is a good game? Something is happening all the time. The score is high - for example we won 26:22 right now ;-) - and all kinds of skills are useful - motion, speed, technical skills with the ball, strength, combination - but none of them is too essential so that the game would become a pain if the players are not good at it.
