Saturn: Mimas confines G-ring



Matthew Hedman et al. argue in Science that while Saturn's E-ring and F-ring get their material from nearby bodies, it's not the case of the G-ring. The G-ring is now believed to be confined by a resonance with Mimas, a major moon, whose angular velocity is almost exactly 6/7 of the angular velocity of the G-ring:
