Bill Maher & Bill Clinton vs 9/11 truthers

The Reference Frame praises

Bill Maher
Bill Clinton
Both Gentlemen were facing 9/11 conspiracy theorists who screamed that 9/11 was an inside job. Bill Maher escorted the "theorists" from the room with his own hands - and promised to vote for Rudy Giuliani ;-) - while Clinton answered "How dare you?". Bill Maher's personal answer to the loopy 9/11 seers is here. The crackpots' answer is such a good P.R. that it has nearly 200,000 visits.

The provocation at Clinton's fundraiser was organized by Minnesota Change, a group of lunatics, who submitted their own video of the event to YouTube. The group has also accused Clinton of being a member by a right-wing institute founded in 1872 that was re-established by your humble correspondent, the so-called Bohemian Club. ;-)

I feel that Maher and Clinton are somewhat exceptional these days. Many others would either be scared or they would prefer to show how much they respect these "demolition experts" and how they consider them to be our peers. I am not even sure whether George W. Bush would give a similar clear answer as Maher and Clinton. Sometimes I think that Bush feels that he can't afford unambiguous reactions which is bad if true.

Incidentally, a huge amount of details about the collapse are known, including the World Trade Center 7. A problem with those who say that the terrorist attack theory is not even wrong is that they never want to look at any details that decide whether a hypothesis is likely or not. Just like Peter Woit, they always prefer irrational emotions and ideologically driven preconceptions.

Mark Steyn offers the following quote about the 9/11 conspirators:

There's a kind of decadence about all this: If 9/11 was really an inside job, you wouldn't be driving around with a bumper sticker bragging that you were on to it. Fantasy is a by-product of security: it's the difference between hanging upside down in your dominatrix's bondage parlor after work on Friday and enduring the real thing for years on end in Saddam's prisons.
Hat tip: The Axis of Good

This decadence seems to be a systematic problem of a fight for democracy, justice, and human rights. In most cases when these warriors are needed, they don't exist and can't exist - because they are either scared, jailed, or executed. The result is that these warriors usually appear when they are not needed and when their fight has no credibility: they end up as warriors against democracy, justice, and human rights because they end up as warriors against freedom and capitalism.

It's an unfortunate situation. Does the society need any special regulations? Well, again, I think that what the society needs is for most people to realize that these crackpots don't risk anything and their fight has no actual value. When most of the society is going to view them as what they are - dishonest cheap garbage - they will pose no threat and the percentage of time that an average modern country spends in a totalitarian regime could eventually drop below 50 percent.

And that's the memo.
