Google Chrome: download

As all particle physicists familiar with quantum chromodynamics (QCD) know, "Chroma" (Χρώμα) means "color" in Greek. There are three basic colors that humans can see which is why the gauge group is SU(3): see the logo. ;-)

Diversity is an important value and because there are only a few :-) web browsers, such as Firefox, Internet Explorer, Opera, Safari, K-Meleon, Epiphany, Flock, and AOL Explorer, you surely need a new one: Google Chrome.

In fact, it is not only a new browser. It is probably a beta version of the new "operating system" that Google wants to use to take over the world. Their comic book offers several hints that Chrome is actually the new Cloud Operating System: it explains that Chrome will run a lot of processes. Moreover, the comic book was drawn by Scott McCloud. ;-)

The authors of Chrome chose Webkit so the rendering is identical to that of Safari. Safari is also opened with "slides" during the web press conference but the slides actually don't appear at all. ;-) Javascript will be executed via a compiler (V8).

Once you download the browser, you should definitely try to
  • check how to permute, liberate, and incorporate tabs by dragging them
  • use (and configure) the universal search "omnibox": it looks to your history (URL) as well as Google searches, Amazon searches, or any other searches
  • check the default page of a new tab that automatically collects your popular pages, recent bookmarks, and favorite search engines from the "omnibox"

  1. "We are so, so happy with Google Chrome," mumbled Mozilla CEO John Lilly through gritted teeth. "That most of our income is from Google has no bearing on this statement." - http://notnews.today.com/?p=57
