LHC: Michael Dell, a patron of ATLAS

Michael Dell visited CERN yesterday. He promised ATLAS some efficient Dell's servers. Moreover, Dell leads a consortium that will develop and manage an open IT architecture for the detector experiment. The other members of the consortium are:

  • Intel Corporation
  • Data Direct Networks
  • QLogic Corporation
  • Force10 Networks
  • Platform Computing
By the way, I highly recommend you to download Google Chrome 4.0 stable with extensions - including the option to find anything in a gallery of 1,500 extensions which include some additions by your humble correspondent. The version 4.0 also has bookmark sync. It's the fastest browser that already has almost everything that others do, and much more. It's the third most widely used browser after MSIE and Firefox, so far at 5% of users.
