### George Kukla (1930-2014)

A well-known Czech American climate skeptic
This happened already 3 months ago but wasn't really covered in the blogosphere...

I re-learned from Willie Soon that George Kukla died at age 84 of an apparent heart attack. His Columbia University wrote a biography of him with a somewhat insulting title.

Kukla received a Medal of Merit from Czech president Václav Klaus in 2011.

Jiří (=George) Kukla was born in Prague in 1930. His journey around the world was colorful. In the 1960s, he would manage to be an adviser to Fidel Castro. But he would also work in China, Chile, Antarctica, and Eastern Europe.

Later in the 1960s, he would return to Czechoslovakia. He first came to Columbia in 1971 "legally", through an exchange program.

Kukla would investigate the Milankovič cycles and potential for a rapid change of the temperature. He was one of the scientists who coined the term "global warming" – the climate alarmists should have paid him billions of dollars in royalties.

He was one of the driving forces behind the "new ice age" scare in the 1970s. In 1979, he made Jimmy Carter establish one of the nationwide institutes to deal with the "climate change" (=global cooling) threat and he continued to believe in such a looming freezing trend until his death – when something very different was fashionable.

To be sure, many very wise people including Bob Carter consider some global cooling in the foreseeable future to be damn likely and the mankind is rather unprepared for it, despite – and maybe because of – the widespread obsession with the "climate change" (=global warming).

Incidentally, John Cook drew three new cartoons of Richard Lindzen, John Christy, and Roy Spencer, apparently trying to hide that the other thousands of skeptical climate scientists exist, too.

I made the great service for John Cook by magnifying the cartoons and posting them separately, so that you don't have to look for the 3 scientists in the forest of 97 cartoons of hailing idiots.

Too bad that Mr Cook flooded the scientists by the forest of the loud foam and he didn't allow the 3 scientists to speak but I still appreciate that he has at least noticed the existence of 3 skeptical climate scientists.

Only John Christy looks recognizable! Cook does not seem to be a talented cartoonist either.

I totally agree, Christy is pretty good, Mann is recognizable, and the remaining 98 are anonymous characters. Dick Lindzen doesn't have any of his actual strong features...
