Cookie policy

I, Luboš Motl, the provider of the content on this weblog, am responsible for none of the popup windows, unnecessary dialog boxes, and cookie warnings you may have been bothered by.

All this harassment has been imposed by arrogant, disgustingly obnoxious individuals in the so-called "European Union" who have no respect for human dignity, freedom, and consensual activities of third parties that are none of their business. They never hesitate before they force us to waste more of our time. All this effort that I had to do and you had to go through was wasted for one purpose: to obey some new absurd pieces of the "EU" "law" that these despicable and mostly unelected officials have been able to codify on a majority of the European continent. I only surrendered after a threatening e-mail that the "European Union" officials sent all AdSense users through Google.

Web cookies are small pieces of data stored on the visitor's computer that remember the previous activity of the Internet user on a given website. They remember small settings and things like "the state of the shopping cart" so that the visitor may start where he ended and doesn't have to make certain choices every time he opens the website again. You may turn off your cookies in your browser and but it is a foolish thing to do because unlike numerous nosy government agencies, they are useful and pose no significant threat to your privacy. Everyone who claims otherwise is a shameless liar. Even without the annoying dialog boxes, cookies have worked well for 2 decades.

The Reference Frame only uses the most rudimentary cookies or trackers that are found on all blogger.com blogs and/or all websites with Disqus discussions, Google AdSense ads (including "DoubleClick" technology), Google +1 button and Google Friend Connect (a list of your Google Plus friends somewhere), Twitter badge, Google Analytics, and Site Meter (visitor counters; the latter no longer works well). I have installed no special cookies myself, I don't really understand any details about the inner workings of those cookies or the concept of cookies in general, and I am convinced that it is a brutal attack against the freedom of the Internet and expression if some politicians demand that content providers should be going through this stuff.

Please demand a punishment for the individuals in the "European Union" who are contaminating our nations' legal landscapes by similar absurdities – garbage that has been found by legal experts to contradict numerous essential constitutional principles of the European countries. This cookie consent policy violates the EU disability laws, too.

The situation become much worse since 2011 when the video by SilkTide above was created. SilkTide has also provided me with the HTML script – the most widely used HTML script on the web – to comply with the law. I believe that this code along with this web page makes this server fully compatible with the law. I also emphasize that I don't encourage the users to employ any illegal ways to neutralize the individuals who have created this law.
